Accessibility.

Where we are, where we're headed, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

Where we are today

FoodGenie is in closed beta, and our accessibility work is honestly also in beta. We have not yet completed a formal audit against WCAG 2.1 AA, and some screens will fall short — particularly newer, fast-moving surfaces. We would rather say that plainly than publish a compliance badge we haven't earned.

What we're working toward

  • Keyboard navigation — every interactive element reachable and operable without a mouse, with visible focus states.
  • Color contrast — text and controls meeting WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios across all of our themes.
  • Screen reader support — semantic markup, labeled controls, and sensible alt text for recipe and ingredient imagery.
  • Reduced motion — honoring prefers-reduced-motion for animations and transitions.

Found a barrier?

If anything in FoodGenie is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us — real reports from real users move fixes to the top of the list. Email kirkmeldrum1@gmail.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive tech involved (if any). We read every one.
