Unopened salami keeps for weeks at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Once opened, wrap tightly and refrigerate. Freezing extends life but may slightly affect texture. Whole, unsliced salami has a much longer shelf life.
Cooking Tips
Let cold salami sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before serving to bring out its full flavor.
Slice salami thinly for sandwiches and charcuterie boards; thicker slices work better for cooking.
If white mold appears on the surface, it's harmless—brush or cut it off. Discard if you see pink or green mold.
Buy from reputable sources; quality and freshness vary widely by producer.
