Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Keep in original packaging or an airtight container.
Tea bags remain fresh for about 1 year if stored properly. Quality and flavor gradually fade over time, but they don't spoil.
Cooking Tips
Use water between 160–212°F (70–100°C) depending on tea type; delicate white and green teas need cooler water than robust black teas.
Steep for 3–5 minutes; check the package for the maker's recommendation to avoid over-steeping, which can turn tea bitter.
Squeeze the tea bag gently against the side of the cup with a spoon to extract more flavor without tearing the bag.
Reuse tea bags once or twice if you prefer milder strength, or compost the used bag when done.
Common Mistakes
Using water that's too hot for delicate teas (green, white, oolong), which can scald the leaves and create an unpleasant, astringent taste.
Over-steeping, especially with black tea or strong blends, which can make tea overly bitter and harsh.
Storing tea bags in humid or warm places, or near spices and strong-smelling foods, which can degrade flavor.
