Once opened, keep the lid tightly sealed. Exposure to air and humidity causes clumping and flavor loss.
Store in an airtight container away from heat, light, and moisture. Properly sealed instant coffee can last 2–10+ years.
Cooking Tips
Use 1–2 teaspoons per 8 oz cup of hot water, adjusting to taste.
Stir instant coffee with a little cold water first to dissolve lumps before adding hot water.
For iced coffee, dissolve granules in a small amount of hot water, then pour over ice and add milk or water.
Store in a cool, dark place (not above the stove) to preserve flavor.
Common Mistakes
Using boiling water (212°F) can make instant coffee taste bitter; use water around 195–205°F for better flavor.
Leaving the jar open or loosely sealed causes moisture absorption and clumping.
Confusing instant coffee with ground coffee in recipes; instant is more concentrated and dissolves instantly.
