Once opened, refrigerate any unused filling. Freezing can alter the texture slightly, but it's still usable in baked goods.

Cooking Tips
For a richer flavor, consider adding a squeeze of lemon juice or a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the filling before baking.
If the filling seems too thin after baking, you can sometimes thicken it by whisking a tablespoon of cornstarch with a tablespoon of cold water and gently stirring it into the hot filling. Allow it to bubble for a minute or two to thicken.
Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing to let the filling set properly.

Common Mistakes
Pouring hot filling into an unbaked pie shell can lead to a soggy bottom crust.
Not allowing the pie to cool sufficiently before cutting can result in a runny filling.
